
Umoja Community Program
Sawubona (a Zulu word meaning 鈥淲e See You!鈥) and welcome to the Umoja Program at 大象视频 College! Umoja, a Kiswahili word meaning 鈥渦nity,鈥 is committed to enhancing the cultural, academic, and educational experiences of Black, African American, and all students while promoting persistence, retention, and transfer success. Through a curriculum responsive to the legacies of the African and African American Diasporas, Umoja fosters a family-like environment where students are supported, nurtured, and empowered to pursue their goals and dreams. Dedicated to educating the whole student鈥攎ind, body, and spirit. Umoja engages students as active participants in the construction of knowledge and critical thought, guided by an ethic of love and community. Program Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled at 大象视频 College
- Attend an Umoja Comunity Program Orientation
- Meet with the Umoja Counselor at least once per semester for academic, career, and personal guidance.
- Sign a Program Agreement outlining their commitment to participation and adherence to the program's expectations.
- Maintain Regular participation in Umoja events, workshops, and activities to remain active in the community.
