As a follow-up to our earlier message regarding the partial power outage at ´óÏóÊÓÆµ College’s Oceanside Campus, the following update is being provided:

  • All Oceanside Campus classes scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. or later on Thursday, April 23, 2026, are canceled.
  • Online classes will continue as scheduled.
  • The Student Leaders’ Banquet will be held outdoors, outside Building 34 - Student Center (please bring a jacket).
  • The Theater Performance of The Book Club will continue as scheduled. 

A determination regarding Oceanside campus operations and classes for Friday, April 24, 2026, will be communicated as additional information becomes available. Please continue to monitor official MiraCosta College communications and the miracosta.edu/alerts website for updates.

The power outage has not impacted the operations of the Community Learning Center (CLC), San Elijo Campus (SAN), and Technology Career Institute (TCI).

  • Student Leaders' Banquet will take place outside on the quad.
  • Theatre Performance will resume.

SUBJECT: Oceanside Campus Partial Power Outage

Hello MiraCosta College Community,

At approximately 1:30 p.m, Thursday, April 23, 2026, the Oceanside Campus (1 Barnard Drive) experienced a power outage in parts of the campus.

The power outage applies to:

  • OC-T570
  • OC-T600
  • OC 3400
  • OC-3500
  • OC-3600
  • OC-4000
  • OC-4050
  • OC-4100
  • OC-4200
  • OC-4300
  • OC-4400
  • OC-4600
  • OC-4700
  • OC-4900
  • OC-5100
  • OC-5200
  • OC-5300
  • OC-7000
  • OC-8000

Classes that are able to continue will proceed. There may be an impact to classes starting at 3 p.m. or later in the above buildings. More direction and guidance will come as it is available.

Impact on Students

  • Faculty are asked to notify students via email, Canvas, Pronto, or other appropriate communication channels.
  • Online classes will proceed as scheduled at all sites.

Impact on Employees

  • If impacted by the power outage, supervisors should contact their teams to assign remote work, as appropriate.
  • Faculty teaching courses scheduled for the Oceanside Campus later today (afternoon or evening) should ensure students are informed of a partial/possible power outage.

At this time, we are notified that power will be restored within 2-5 hours. An update will be provided by 5 p.m. today with potential impacts for evening classes, Friday, or beyond. Please continue to monitor the website for the most current information.
